I want another ferret…is it a good idea or no?

Hi, I have 2 ferrets named Roseanne and Princess. I love them to death, but lately I’ve wanted another one…

It’s not that I don’t love Roseanne and Princess and want another for that reason, it’s just that I love them so much and they give me so much joy that I know I would enjoy yet another.

Roseanne and Princess are both VERY friendly, so I know that wouldn’t be a problem.

Do you think a third is a good idea? Why or why not? Thank you.

Well, after your post a while ago I wanted one even more haha 🙂 but I let it go because I didn’t know how to convince my mom.I am still a kid (teen) so of course I still live with my mom. I don’t know how to convince her! The next weekend after I posted this I went to the petstore that i got Roseanne and Princess at. i knew that if i fell in love with one my mom would cave in. but there was a sign saying you weren’t allowed to hold them because they could give you the flu or you could give it to them :(.So, how do i convince my mother? I don’t know why a third would affect her because i am the one who Cleans the cage (all of it, Feeds them, Gives them time, play, love, joy…etc..etc. She DOES pay for the food and litter but that’s only because she has 3 cats, so there’s already food & litter there.
Once, 1 year or 2 ago, i wanted a 3rd so i told my mother, “3 cats, 3 ferrets. I pay for half of the cat food, you pay the other.” but it didnt work. she seemed mad i asked 🙁

Sooooo, what do i do? I really want one. It just seems like Roseanne is getting older so she doesnt want to play with Princess as much, and i feel bad for her. SHould i just let it go?

Thank you. I do have enough money to pay the vet bills, so that’s good. Thanks for all the positive-ness and encouragement!Do you think it will be a huge impact on the food? As in A LOT more will be eated everyday? I do have the money for that, and I know there will be more food eaten, but I was just wondering if it will be a lot.

I know what you mean about wanting another ferret. I used to have a bumper sticker on my car which said : “Ferrets are like potato chips. You can’t have just one!” 😀

The only thing I think you should consider is whether you can afford to pay the vet’s fees IF your babies get sick.

From what you’ve said, I know you’re a wonderful ferret owner and any ferret that comes into your family will be blessed with a very happy life. However they can be expensive when they get sick and I think that’s what you have to think about.

If you can pay the vet’s bills without any hassle, then I would encourage you to get your next ferret. But if it’d be a drain on your bank account … then you should think again.
