Ferret Vets in Pennsylvania

(Ferret Vets in Pennsylvania: I’m always happy to add sites which have been recommended by other ferret owners so if you have a good ferret vet who is not listed here, please let me know and I’ll put the details on this page … I reckon it’s great to have a list of vets we know are good so that if our ferrets ever get sick, we’ll feel comfortable in the knowledge that our pets will get the best treatment possible from a vet who knows what he’s doing!)

  1. Fyi-Anna Edling (Horsham Veterinary Hospital in PA) has retired. She’s still doing ferret ultrasounds, but no longer has regular appointments available.

  2. Thank you so much for the heads up, Pam!
I’ve removed Dr Edling’s name but have left the clinic on the page. I assume they still treat ferrets?

  3. I LOVE Dr. Kulig who is currently at Macungie Animal Hospital. She is moving to another practice however closer to Quakertown. She is amazing! There aren’t even words to describe her compassion and love for these critters. I had to use Dr. Walter for a distressed ferret that I drove from Reading to Harleysville and she had no compassion whatsoever for my dying girl. She was too busy talking to her mom I believe that came to the office during emergency hours (my emergency), which later resulted in my ferret dying. I would NOT recommend her at all.

  4. Hi Ashley
Many thanks for telling me about Dr Kulig – I’ve added Macungie Animal Hospital to the relevant page and also made a note that she is moving shortly so to check before going to see her.
I’ve also put down that a ferret owner doesn’t recommend Dr Walter so that other ferret owners know.
So sorry to hear about your bad encounter with her which resulted in losing your ferret! That really is the pits 🙁
Hugs to your babies from their new friends down under 🙂
    Cheers

  5. Hi Jackie
My deepest apologies for not acknowledging your comments about the change of vets at Harleysville Vet Hospital sooner! We had our grandkids over so I wasn’t on the computer over the weekend ?
Thanks so much for letting me know about the change of vets at your clinic – I really appreciate you taking the time to inform me and the ferret owners who live in Pennsylvania, and I’ve made the necessary adjustments to your listing! ?
    With kindest regards
    Cheers

  6. There is a vet at the Hamlin Veterinary Clinic that treats ferrets. I’m getting a ferret from a friend that’s moving and her veterinarian is to far for me so I called around and they said that they do treat ferrets.

  7. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know about Hamlin Vet Clinic, JJ.
I really appreciate it and have updated my page to show the clinic as being both in Hamlin and Lake Ariel. Hope that’s correct 😀

  8. i am looking for a ferret vet near york pa i have used east york but they have not been able to treat them so please help

  9. First visit at Harleysville a week ago and I couldn’t be happier with both doctor and staff. Dr. Paul Wagner was wonderful with both ferret and human. Clear explanations for everything, very gentle and thorough with my ferret.

  10. Thanks so much for your recommendation, Marj! I think it’s always a great thing to have people give vets and clinics a thumbs up so other people know where to go!
I’ve made a note that Dr Wagner and his clinic are highly recommended by a ferret owner ?

  12. FYI, Pet’s Best Friend Veterinary Hospital in Levittown no longer treats ferrets. I called yesterday to try to get an appointment for 2 of mine and was informed of this.

  13. Hello, I’m looking for a great vet to treat my ferrets near Ridgway Pa. I can’t find anything around me but don’t mind a drive.
    Anything helps, thanks.

  14. Hi Gwen
I’ve been googling your question and found an exotic vet in Kersey. Is that too far away from you?

Perhaps you could contact the Pennsylvania Ferret Rescue Association and ask them if they can suggest a good ferret vet near to where you are? I was hoping to find a list of vets on their FB page but no luck ?

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

  15. Hey,
Thank you for looking! I called them today and spoke with a lady but she just referred me out to two other places, one in Altoona and one in State College. The first one didn’t have anything about ferret care on their website at all and the second one was just an emergency care place that had horrible reviews online. I called them several times anyway but they never answered. Their website said not to leave a message and just to keep calling. I think I’m back to square one again.
I’ll definitely try the ferret rescue page, thanks again!
